Stained Glass Window Film
There are
numerous examples of energy, which is wasted in a home or other
facility such as lights, which are left on in unoccupied rooms,
inefficient HVAC systems and a lot others. A source, which is
usually unrecognized, is the required energy to cool a space that
is heated by sunlight that comes in though the windows. A third of
the cooling load of the average building is said to because of the
solar heat that seeps in through the windows.
However, windows are necessary features of any infrastructure
and they can readily provide sunshine and a view, which would
reduce the need to use artificial lighting sources. So, most people
are looking for ways to reduce the heat that is brought in by the
windows and one of the most efficient would be through the use of
stained glass window films.
Stained glass window films reduce the amount of solar heat going
in as well as improve the efficiency of energy use in a home or
building. It is usually applied to the interior of a window so that
it would be able to reflect and absorb heat. In addition to their
decorative benefits these films are able to help in the maintenance
of regular and comfortable temperature.
Stained glass window films are able to reduce the heat through
blocking solar radiation or solar energy. Solar energy is
essentially made up of three elements, which are visible light,
ultraviolet radiation and near-infrared radiation. As the sun’s
rays hit the windows, some of the solar energy is reflected and
some is absorbed by the window, however a lot goes through the
glass.
If you would choose to install stained glass window films, the
amount of solar energy which reflected and absorbed by your windows
would increase dramatically. A lot of these window films are made
with a thin metallic coating from stainless steel, silver, aluminum
or these three combined. These materials are able to efficiently
help in the reflection and absorption of solar radiation, making
stained glass window films decorative but also very functional and
practical to use in your home or office.
We were recently at Home Depot and walked right by a rack of
these holding about 20 different varieties. They were about $20
each and fit an average sized window. With so many different color
options it was a real treat to see them. There was one on display.
They are packaged in plastic and rolled up in order to keep the
creases out.
